TRLF wins major $4M settlement against UIHC for parents of North Liberty toddler
TRLF attorney, Hugh Albrecht, helped a North Liberty couple secure a nearly $4M settlement against UIHC, after their son died just days before his 2nd birthday. In October 2022, the State Appeal Board unanimously approved the multi-million dollar settlement, which Mr. Albrecht successfully negotiated on behalf of the parents. The lawsuit accused UIHC and its staff, of negligence and a violation of the standard of care to, among other things, properly assess, examine, test, diagnose, and treat the child in a timely manner, after the cause of death was found to be due to an undiagnosed strep infection.
